Use the Match and Adjust Feature

Sometimes, a bank transaction and a Rillet transaction may not perfectly match. For example, a client may pay an invoice of $1,000, but your bank deducts an international wire fee of $20, so the actual amount received is $980.

In these cases, you can use Rillet’s Match & Adjust feature to match the transactions and record the adjustment automatically.

Matching and Adjusting Transactions

Follow these steps to use the Match & Adjust feature when amounts differ between your bank and Rillet records.

  1. Select the two transactions with differing amounts.

Note: Follow the same steps you would to match equal transactions (📄 Matching and Unmatching Transactions with Rillet). If the amounts differ, the variance appears at the bottom right of the screen along with the Match & Adjust button.

  2. Click Match & Adjust.

  3. In the Adjustment modal, complete the required fields:

    • Vendor (optional): Select the vendor responsible for the difference (e.g., your bank if it’s a fee).

    • Account: Choose the GL account to record the adjustment (e.g., Bank Charges & Fees).

    • Department: Assign the department related to the adjustment.

    • Stage (optional): Enter a stage if required by your setup.

    • Location (optional): Enter a location if required by your setup. Example: If the difference is a bank fee, select your bank (e.g., Chase) as the vendor, and choose Bank Charges & Fees as the account.

  4. Click Create and Match.

Rillet creates an adjustment entry to record the difference, and the two transactions are now matched.
