Matching and Unmatching Transactions with Rillet

There are a few ways to match a bank account transaction to a previously created transaction in Rillet. The sections below will go over each method for matching.

One-to-One Matching

In the case that you need to match one bank transaction to one Rillet transaction, begin by clicking on your chosen bank transaction on the left side of your screen. Rillet will automatically populate some relevant options on the right hand side of your screen. Click See All if you want to see all eligible matching transactions.

When you select the Rillet transaction, a Match button will appear on the bottom right side of your screen.

From here, matching is simple: just click the Match button, and your transaction will move to the Matched section.

In case there isn’t an existing entry (which may happen with miscellaneous bank transactions or bank fees), you can create a quick entry by clicking the Quick Entry button in the upper right corner.

A modal will appear where you can quickly add a few details about your journal entry. You can add:

  • Payer type

  • Vendor

  • Account

You can also create a more complex JE with additional accounts if need be. Once you’ve filled out all your details, click Create and Match. The two transactions will now match and move to the Matched section.

One-to-Multiple Matching

It’s possible to match one bank transaction to multiple Rillet transactions. You can either match a bank transaction to an equal Rillet transaction, or link two different transaction amounts together with Rillet’s match and adjust feature.

Additionally, if you do not have a perfect match, you can use Match & Adjust to make small adjustments for bank fees or other small differences. Read this article to learn more about matching and adjusting: 📄 Matching and Unmatching Transactions in Rillet
