Customer Count

Customer Count shows the total number of active customers in your organization during a selected period. This metric helps you understand how your customer base changes over time and supports analysis of growth, churn, and retention trends.

In Rillet, Customer Count focuses only on customers who are actively generating recurring revenue. This ensures that the metric reflects your true paying customer base rather than all historical or inactive records.

What This Report Shows

The Customer Count report displays customer movements by reporting period.

The table includes the following elements:

  • Previous Customers Customers who were active in the prior period and remain active in the current period.

  • New Customers Customers who begin generating recurring revenue in the current period.

  • Reactivations Customers who previously had no recurring revenue and become active again.

  • Churned Customers Customers whose recurring revenue drops to zero during the period.

  • Total Active Customers The total number of customers generating recurring revenue in the period.

The report allows you to view how the active customer base changes from one period to the next.

How Customer Count Is Calculated

Customer Count is determined using recurring revenue data from:

  • Contracts

  • Invoices

  • Credit memos

A customer is considered active when their recurring revenue value is greater than zero during a reporting period.

Customers are classified based on how their recurring revenue changes between periods:

  • New when a customer begins generating recurring revenue for the first time.

  • Reactivated when a previously inactive customer generates recurring revenue again.

  • Churned when a customer’s recurring revenue drops to zero.
