Journal Entry Audit Trail
The Journal Entry Audit Trail lets you review the full history of changes made to a journal entry. You can see who made each change, when it happened, and exactly what was updated — down to the line item level. This feature helps maintain transparency and accuracy in your financial records.
To View the Audit History of a Journal Entry:
Open the Journal Entry you want to review.
Scroll to the History section.
This section lists all events, such as creation and updates.
Click on an Update entry in the history list.
The version history panel will open, showing the date and time of each saved version.
Use the version selector to toggle between historical versions.
Click the time icon to close the version history and return to the main journal entry view.
What’s Included in the Audit Trail
The audit trail captures and highlights all changes made to a journal entry.
Updates appear in green to indicate new values, and previous values are shown with a strikethrough.
Changes tracked include:
New lines added: Entire new rows appear in green.
Amount changes: Old amounts are crossed out, new amounts shown in green.
Name changes: Updated entry names are highlighted.
Date changes: Includes both Entry Date and Reversal Date.
Customer or Vendor changes: Updated selections are highlighted.
Department changes: Any modification to department assignments.
Description changes: Text updates appear in green.
Attachment URL changes: Any new or updated links.
All edits, whether small or large, are logged with the user’s name and the exact timestamp.
