Custom Email for Invoicing
When sending invoices from Rillet, you can configure them to come from your company’s email domain instead of Rillet’s default domain. This ensures your customers recognize the sender and improves trust in your communications.
Configure a Custom Invoicing Email
Before you begin, make sure you are using an email address owned by your organization. This ensures that the verification process can be completed successfully.
To set up a custom invoicing email:
Click your company logo in the lower-left corner.
Select Organization Settings.

Click Invoices in the left menu.
Select the Communications tab.

In the Custom Email for Communications section, select Edit.

Enter the email address you want invoices to be sent from.
Select Save.

After saving, Rillet begins the verification process for the email address.
Complete Email Verification
Once you save the email address, Rillet verifies the domain before activating it for invoicing.
After saving:
The email appears with a Pending Verification status.

Verification usually takes 24–48 hours.
Once verification is complete:
You will receive a file from Rillet containing CNAMEs.
Ask your engineering team to add these CNAMEs to your DNS settings.
Optionally, add amazonses.com to your SPF record.
When setting up the CNAMEs in the DNS Settings, you will need to include the period (dot) at the end of the CNAMEs. For more information see Why the Dot?
After the DNS update, invoices will be sent using your custom email domain.
Use Dynamic Mentions in Invoice Communications
Dynamic mentions allow you to personalize invoice emails and reminders using invoice-specific data. They automatically insert invoice and customer details into your messages, helping keep communications accurate, consistent, and tailored to each recipient.
You can use dynamic mentions in:
Initial invoice emails
Automated payment reminders
Manual invoice communications
Dynamic mentions are available when editing messages in the Communications tab under Invoices, and they can be inserted into both the subject line and the message body.
To add a dynamic mention, click @ Dynamic Mentions in the message editor and select the value you want to insert.

Available Dynamic Mentions
The following dynamic mentions can be added to your custom invoice emails and reminders. These values are populated automatically based on the invoice data.
Customer Invoicing Name
Customer Company Name
Organization Name
Invoice Number
Invoice Date
Invoice Due Date
Invoice Amount
Amount Due

When the email is sent, each dynamic mention is replaced with the corresponding invoice information.
Preview Invoice Communications
Before sending invoices or reminders, you can preview how dynamic mentions will appear to customers.

Use the See preview option in the message editor to preview the entire message and verify that everything is displayed as expected before sending. This allows you to confirm that:
Dynamic mentions resolve correctly
Invoice details are accurate
The message reads clearly and professionally
