Customizing the Income Statement

Customizing your Income Statement allows you to tailor the report to reflect your business's financial performance better. By adjusting different parameters, such as revenue categories and formatting options, you can gain deeper insights into your company's financial health.

To Customizing the Income Statement Report:

  1. Go to Reporting from the main menu.

  2. Select Financial Statements > Income Statement.

  3. Click Customize.

  4. Enter a name directly in the report name field if you want to save this version for future use.

  5. Select Columns.

    1. Breakdown

      1. Monthly

      2. Quarterly

      3. Total (activates Variance Analysis)

      4. Subsidiaries (if using multi-entity)

      5. Custom Fields (ex. Department, Location, Project)

    2. Variance Analysis: If you select "Total" as the breakdown, enable this option and choose:

      1. Previous Year

      2. Preceding Period

      3. Select variance units (% and/or $).

  6. Formatting: Customize how the data should be displayed, such as number formats, subtotal options, and currency symbols.

    1. Report Format: Defines how the report specifics are visually represented.

      1. Account Numbers: Toggle right to display numbers associated with accounts.

      2. Subgroup Totals: Toggle right to show totals for subgroups within accounts.

      3. Exclude Zero Balance: Toggle right to hide accounts with a zero balance.

      4. Show Total Column: Toggle right to display an additional column for totals.

    2. Number Format: controls how numeric values are displayed.

      1. Drop Decimals: Toggle right to eliminate decimal points from numbers.

      2. Show in Thousands: Toggle right to display values in thousands for easier readability.

      3. Currency Symbol: Toggle right to include the currency symbol next to values.

    3. Negative Numbers: Defines how negative numbers are displayed.

  7. Select the date range for the report.

  8. Configure grouping options:

    1. Select the accounts to group.

    2. Enter the group name in the Enter Group Name field.

    3. Click Create Group.

  9. Save or discard your changes:

    1. To save your customization, click Save Report As and enter a new name for the report.

    2. To apply the changes, click Save Changes.

    3. To exit without saving, click Exit Edit Mode.
